Tom!: Don't hold my feet to the fire, but I don't ever recall seeing a 45 of "Early Morning Rain". By the time Gord's Gold was released in 1975, PP&M's version had been out around 8-9 years, and while it was one of Lightfoot's signature tunes, I don't believe it held a wide mass appeal. I could very well be wrong though.

Actually,"Early Morning Rain" was a single in Canada but most likely not in the U.S. In 1965 Gordon's music was just beginning to be covered by Peter,Paul and Mary. They took,"For Lovin' Me" to #30 early that year and then tried GL again with E.M.Rain but only managed to reach between # 100 and #91 on the pop chart. It really took Gordon about 5 or 6 years before hitting it big in America with,"If You Could Read My MInd" in 1970/71. If you're ever in Canada,I'm sure you'll find it somewhere. Later!
