It seems he broke off with Terry Whelan (The Two Tones) and ventured forth "on his own" with much encouragement and support from his first wife Brita. Indeed, it would be about 4 years before he released another album.
I thoroughly enjoy the album "The Two Tones at The Village Corner"... listen to it quite often.

I occasionally relax to Copper Kettle and Dark as a Dungeon...same true for Remember Me and It's Too Late but the backup vox make me cringe, the same way Orbison arrangements would back around the same era...I wonder when producers finally realized that stuff was kinda goofy
