Yes, very sad news indeed.

For those of who were Lightfoot fans since those early days we would recall John coming out there with his bass and taking his position on stage beside Red Shea on lead guitar.

He always seemed quite dignified and had very good stage presence I thought.

There's still an old cassette tape recording somewhere in my collection where Gord praises him, and Red as well.

"You just go out there on the stage Gord and leave the drivin' to us." This is the quote from Gord about John. Gord also mentions John was full of ideas.

I saw him for the last time in a local pub in Toronto where he was playing bass for my good friend Ron Nigrini. They had a great sound. John even sang a song at that gig.

For me it's the end of yet another era.
