Rex (and also for Char's and Silverheel's education and encouragement). As I see it there are three options you might care to try
1 (decidedly non geek) put on your glasses which I an am sure at your advanced age you will need and simply copy type out the text
2.(preferred and most satisfying method)
go out like LSH did a few months ago and find a cheap scanner you'll never regret it
But I recommend a better machine such as my own HP PSC1350 3-in-1 (Printer/Scanner/Copier) or the similar model 1315. Or there are 4-in-1 models that add faxing capabilty
Either way you should then be in a position to not only usefully make colo(U)r photocopies but the included software has a brilliant OCR program(me)called readiris
that enables the machine to scan the text
in any area you designate and perform the miracle of Optical Character Recognition
mine actually loads it straight into my choice of my available Word processor
word or Wordpad which is handy as the OCR rarely gets everything correct although it is pretty close
After a quick google:-
PSC1350
varying prices as low as
$79.95
or from Staples at $87.74

his machine has a useful built in reader for a variety of smart/flash memory cards as used in digital cameras
There are cheaper basic flat bed scanners including the
HP Scanjet 4600 $39.99 from an amazon affiliate at:- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...48164?v=glance
It has readiris software too
I have no connection with HP BTW and would only advise you to steer clear of any Epson product judging by their ridiculously picky/unreliable printers!!!
3 you could go and buy a (very useful)digital camera and snap the pages to display here (some bugger around here can no doubt then be persuaded to tell you how to display your pix on this forum) right SM??

To err is human; to foul things up totally, you need a computer.
