Last week's chat saw a total of 6 regulars plus a welcome newcomer Stew from Dallas
As I reported last week both catmanron and I had problems getting into the correct chat room a fortnight ago well we both got in but found that the room was empty.
Last week apparently the original chat room founder Rik Stevans suffered likewise.
One possible reason was that I had inadvertently made a typo when trying to describe how to
configure mIRC as shown on my page
http;//www.johnfowles.org.uk/lightfoot/chatroom/newlink.htm.... I had put the IRC server down as dialexnet.net instead of dilexnet.net. I have now uploaded a revised screenshot of the "add server" box.
To try to prevent future confusion I have now set the topic as "Welcome All Lightheads"
I then entered the room using all 4 methods that I have previously listed and verified that that topic appeared in each one.
A sample screenshot from mIRC shows three of me!!

So the moral is if you find yourself in the room on your own get out and try another method
To recap the four methods which are aimed at PC users* are:-
A. if you already have mIRC

A1 simply open mIRC from your start>>programs menu

scroll down until you see this link
"Direct to mIRC Gordon Lightfoot Chat"
Which will automatically open mIRC AND configure it for this chat room
Apologies for this being in a bit of a mess I will during next week tidy up my various chat/mIRC pages and consolidate them on one page (plus links as necessary)
B.IF YOU DO NOT YET HAVE mIRC THERE ARE A PAIR OF ALTERNATIVE BROWSER ENTRY METHODS BOTH USING JAVA APLETS:-

read the preeamble
accept the download of the JWIRC Java Aplet
enter your desired nick and join the party

try the alternative Java Applet provided by the IRC server
dilexnet.net by clicking the final link

One way or another you should get in
Unless for security reasons your browser has had in tools>options
has had Java disabled
If any problems it is essential,that you e-mail me full details PLEASE
