I seldom hear anything other than greatest hits (the biggies, mostly Sundown and IYCRMM and sometimes Wreck)and can't say I've heard ANY airplay of songs from the last couple of albums, but "Top 20/Top 40" or whatever doesn't play much of what we'd call adult contemporary anyway, by anybody. And most radio programs aren't run by individual DJs as they were back in the day, but have a set playlist or the music comes canned (preprogrammed). So it's the little stations, independents, campus airwaves where you can get listener requests where a new artist, or older established artist, might have a fighting chance of getting a song aired.

Personally I see the internet bypassing a lot of the middlemen (distributors) and I say hurrah! I'd love to see Gord and others post free snippets for sampling and offering direct downloads at a price that's far less than what the majors are charging which still pays the artists directly more than the few cents they get from the labels. Buy one song, two songs (for those of you old enough to remember singles on 45s) or an album, knowing the artist is getting the lion's share of the payment, as it should be.
