I tell my children that life is for the living, it is to be experienced, to welcome new things and people into that life. The sum total of a human comes from the people and experiences they have had over their lifetime. I would suggest that a person take in all experiences that this all too short time on earth gives us and to be grateful for the chance to have those experiences. This would include listening to Lightfoot (or whomever) for the experience of it. Only by putting ourselves out there and going for it will any of us truly be living life. Lightfoot just happens to be one of the biggest experiences of my life and I hate to think of anyone not giving a good and serious listen to him at least. That in itself, good or bad, is part of the life experience to me. I can only then hope that the unitiated will see the brilliance and humanity that Gord puts into his music. It's up to them from that point on. I've done my job, Gord's done his and all that's left is hope. Hope that they will feel the Lightfoot magic.
