Hi....it seems like only last night I was at the Tulalip Amphitheater watching Gordon and band perform. Wait it was only last night. That's what getting stuck in I-5 traffic for apparent hours will do for your sense of time.
First of all, the setting was fabulous...it really is a great venue and the weather was perfect. With a beer garden in the back, grass underfoot, and a vacant pair of seats in front of me...what more could you ask for?
It was a very solid show...Gord was strong in voice...though my wife declared it wasn't until the fourth song, In My Fashion, that he hit his stride. (my wife's a critic though) As the sun went down, Gord had to don a pair of sunglasses so that, as he put it, he wouldn't get sunburned eyelids. Thanks to Ticketmaster, we were a long distance away, but he looked very cool.
A couple of comments he made might be worth noting. First he introduced "If You Could Read My Mind" noting that it "broke first in Seattle" (to a great roar). He went on to comment on being both sleepless and broke in Seattle. (chuckles from my wife) Later on, Gord was thanking people for coming out to...."Wait a minute" he said...then he checked with Rick Haynes to find out exactely where he was. That brought forth a great laugh too.
A couple who came down with us hadn't seen Gord before and they were very impressed. A great relaxed concert; very fun. And six weeks to go to Vancouver!
