Yes, I have a vinyl copy of the Northern Lights LP, and I recall reading *somewhere* that the Canadian artists took a vote on who'd open the song. The definate honour by his peers was bestowed upon Gordon. Who else ?
There was a lot of talent there, too. We've all read the names - Bryan Adams, Anne Murray et al; 30-odd stars as I recall. I've always thought that being honoured by your peers is the highest form and feels the best. Good for Gord !
On a side note, does anyone else recall there were a few hilarious spoof skits of the "We are the World", and "Tears are not Enough" by SNL, SCTV, and if I remember right, even "In Living Colour".
For some reason these songs (I guess its rather obvious...) make me recall the debut, at least as I remember it, of the Coca-Cola song "I'd Like to buy the World a Coke" [sic] or some such title as they sang around the outdoor decorated Christmas Tree. That was a big single, too.
Well, thats along enough ramble down memory lane today I 'spect
