If you find out and tell me, that'll make two of us who know (outside of immediate family, manager, medical staff and presumably the band members).

Seriously though, what we were told via the McMaster press releases was that Gord had abdominal arterial bleeding - whether it was the aortic artery or some other isn't clear. His MD's specialty is the spleen so it may have been his splenic artery that either dissected or ruptured. In any event there was mention of several surgeries, type unknown, which necessitated the long stay in the ICU, plus one month on a general floor (likely for initial rehab, to be continued at home in Toronto.) My guess? Cardiorespiratory training and rebuilding muscles atrophied from being bedridden for so long.

We know from Barry Harvey's comments that when he got home Gord was up and walking around, so he's mobile but undoubtedly has a l-o-n-g recovery period to get back to par or close to it. He also considered attending a tribute concert in mid-January but decided against it (rightly, IMHO) to avoid colds/flu, which suggests his lungs are still vulnerable to infection and his general resistance is still low, not surprising under the circumstances. After all, he did seem to be knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door for a while.

It would be nice to hear SOMETHING definitive from Gord via Barry or the EMP office, but nada so far.
