yes, sadly we lost a great one. Pierre Berton who wrote those great books "The Last Spike" and "The National Dream" on our railroads (among many other fabulous "canadiana" type books is gone. He oncesaid to Gord in an elevator one day, "You know, Gord, you said as much in that song as I said in my book (about the building of the railroad across Canada)." Both Pierre and Gord were members of the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame. Pierre in 2002 and Gord in 2003 as a special award.
