Re: Elton John - 48 years ago..Lightfoot was there.
While I'm a fan of Gordie of course! But over the years I became of a fan of a certain other British artist, one Mike Nicholls, who went by the stage name of Nicky James (like Elton was once known as Reginald Dwight ) who at one point was trying to develop other artists, and did some very early songwriting with Ol' Reg. And, apparently, in those early days, Reg stole a block of scheduled studio time from Nicky, and Nicky was not a forgiving type, so his subsequent lack of fandom of EJ kind of rubbed off on me. But then again, I don't think I've ever heard an EJ song that I disliked.
Do I wish I was there at this USA debut? Well, if it meant I was sitting next to Gord, sure! But otherwise, I don't know.
