Default Gordon came to Massachusetts

It's been quite a year for Boston. The Marathon Bombings, Boston Strong, the Sox won the series, the Patriots get a lot of attention, this past Tuesday was election day, so I wasn't sure how much energy the Boston audience would have left for Gordon when he came to the revered Shubert Theater on Friday. Turns out it was a lot! I was proud of my hometown. They recognized all the songs, the hits, the classics, the remote pieces, the ones delivered from cold storage. They hooted, hollered, clapped, stood up, shouted out, sang along, begged for more while showing respect for the man and a love of the music.

Last night in Pittsfield, it was more of the same. Sold out house, very receptive and knowledgeable fans. At the start of the show, Gordon joked that although the players are all from Canada, "We don't smoke crack!" . . . . "Much," Everyone thought that was funny. Toward the end of the evening, Gordon remarked that he and the band all reside in Toronto. "But we don't smoke crack!" An audience member shouted out, good-naturedly, "Well, maybe you should!" Everyone laughed, especially the band, greatly. Gordon said it is sort of sad when a tour comes to an end, then he went on to say that he has taken a few tumbles in his personal life lately and all he has to go home to is his cat. Unexpected ending to 50 Years on the Carefree Highway, but every indication is that there is much more to come in 2014. Hope so, looking forward to it, and best wishes to all for a wonderful upcoming holiday season.
