Default Re: John Stinson,Paul Bartlett and Jimmy Jones and VALDY!!!!- benefit concert!

This was a very, very special treat for me to attend this performance. I'm convinced it was just the hit I needed to get me through till the next Massey Hall gig.

I was a tad late arriving and John and our guys were already into their second or third tune by the time I entered the hall, but when I looked up and saw them all together there, just doing it like, as JJ says: "the 70's sound," boy, could I feel the vibes. It was simply brilliant.

But of course when you have two guys who were trained by Gord's lead guitar player, Red Shea, and add two others who are well steeped in the music of Gordon Lightfoot, and who also sang harmony on several tunes, it adds up to quite the package.

As an added treat, a female supporting vocalist came in on a few tunes and also rang the bells in "Song for a Winter's Night."

To say it did the heart good would be an understatement.

Valdy of course, being the seasoned performer he is, didn't let anyone down. At 66 years of age he's still putting it out the way he always did. A great supporter of causes and he knows how to make them work.

Paul's brother Mark did a very fine job of doing MC for the evening. His skills on the microphone prompted me to offer him the job of being the host for the next pub jam.

I don't recall if he gave me a response.

The legend lives on.

RJ.
