Default Re: Similarities-Haggard/Lightfoot

What made me a Haggard fan: In JAN 1974 I was listening to K101FM in San Francisco an easy listening station when for about a week they played "If We Make It Through December' at about 2-3AM. I was impressed with the introduction of acoustic guitars, bass, and light drums. My first thought was "that sounds like a GL tune". Since then I have purchased numerous tapes/vinyl/CD's of his including two Bear Family Box sets "Untamed Hawk" and "The Studio Recordings, 1968-1976." They are well worth the rather steep price. As for lead guitarists I could never compare Roy Nichols and Red Shea because they were so different, yet powerfully effective for the singers they supported.

Suffice it to say, I am a big fan of both GL and MH.
