Just got back from a couple of weeks in Peru, including giving a couple of workshops for English teachers down there. One of the workshops was about integrating teaching of language, culture, history and social studies using Canadian music. Although I used several sources and had lots of different references, the best stuff was from Gord and Stompin' Tom. I used "Land of the Maple Tree" and "A Real Canadian Girl" from Tom (including some great and funny footage of women's curling), and CRT from Gord, the 1970 appearance on Johnny Cash which was so powerful. So...we're spreading the word far and wide!
