i went through my junos recording about as quickly as i did the grammys, and cma's (taylor swift was slightly less terrible than her grammys bomb)
cant believe Blue Rodeo played a lame Cuddy ballad with some gal harmonizer (they never showed one single close up of her) instead of having Keelor join in for that classic vocal duo blend plus some of his wailing guitar...i suppose they were pushing a new tune...and i am certain most of the ladies enjoyed it
April Wine gets inducted to HOF but gets cut off with the orchestra for a speech time violation but they had only spoken for 10 second, zany stuff
i will say it must be unheard of that a tv award show lasted only 2 hours
the closing tune had a nice live vibe...it seems k'naan sings stylishly flat, as did the choral singers, which actually made Nikki sound even more pure and pitch perfect...i dont' know why the Bieb had to throw in that Idol-like vocal run instead of ending the tune subtly, the way the Young Artist's recording did...all that aside, if wee Justin Bieber and Yanofsky ever hooked up, can you imagine the $$$$s that the two would be netting?
fyi - i have decided to abandoned the Cherry comb over and go for a Bieber comb forward, plus I am off to buy a Drake hoodie at Zellers - i hope to look 20 (make that 30, i lost a decade) years younger
seriously, i have a question i couldn't answer for my son...as i play, he sings this tune with his 5 year old buddies, infectiously and with a lispy passion
he asks: what does "and then it goes back, and then it goes back, etc" mean?
i said we are each kind of like a flag going back and forth freely...but maybe 'going back' refers to generations or something else...
thoughts?
