Default Dallas - Ft. Worth Show

Gord’s DFW area appearance was at the Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas. This venue seats over 6,000 for concerts. I would estimate a crowd of between 2,500 and 3,000 attended. He was in great spirits and talked with the audience more that I would have expected. His backup band was the same group of professionals that have been with him for many years. They all played great. As an overall performance, the show was nostalgic, exciting, and very enjoyable.

You could tell he was very into the performance and happy to be on stage. He did 25 songs from early to later in his long career. I am glad that he made it to Texas again and pleased that I was able to see him perform. Having said that, I am sure many other fans will be disappointed with the quality of his singing. At 71, voice is higher and whispery and is no longer strong enough to sing many of the wonderful tunes he has written during the last 50 years.

I wished that he had made more use of his four companions as back ground vocalists. I could see them singing on several numbers but they could have improved the overall vocal quality by increasing their volume to supply a little more underneath support. I know several other famous older artists who do this in concert. Maybe it is a pride thing with Gord. If you love Gordon Lightfoot, you will want to see this show.
