i was born in '61 myself, but as I got into elementary school, I used to drive my mum nuts for a transistor radio. I wanted to take it to school all the time, & the one time that I did, I didn't have the nerve to admit that I had lost the thing on the playground, especially as she didn't even know that I had taken it to school! I must admit, though, it was nice being able to listen to your favourite artists whenever & whereever you like. You just had to have a boatload of battteries is all.
