Default Re: GL Lyrics fan(atics) fun quizzers and more !

Hey Ronno,

No worries. Thanks Char ! - she, by my fault, did not know we had democratically evolved into a somewhat defined in scope - looser and more relaxed rules in SOME ways... a regular saying - this song is not FUN anymore..its been 3 weeks...dog tired... lets 'nuke it' - and they do it..I trust you and others to, by displaying the acumen of when to do it...first...by suggesting it. then unless I protest..please..as you followed, Ron, do/did ....RARELY. Once, maybe twice, in near 200 songs

And this ....stealth....recorded song !!!! in WARNER and/or post years....

Q187....stealth,

as pointed out above, was in fact not a rarity at all...

Just da88 hard.. lol !! Brew-hahahahahaha lol

I was listening to my megadatabase in song format on hard drive, listened to this ...one of my... not favourite songs...BUT HAS become one my favourites by way of the game for me ! the lyrics are -to me- far more compelling to me than the melody - but the beat --oh yeah - an unheard by me case of a hint of jazz syncopation (as a drummer way back...myself) before this most recent couple of listens.....

We all LISTEN to the music for
A. Me to come up with the questions by "ear" not always "head", and then... checking to be da88 sure, lest the firing line, gauntlet, trial by fire, or public tar and feathering if I am wrong...lol.....I check in the database to BE SURE... only at THAT point, having ascertained the Q by "ear" and head, not by eye til the Q/C Q/A check lol....

B. You guys listen for enjoyment, as do I of course , too, and I have a more then a couple say - "I've started listening to his music differently.....I listen..strain... more to here the lyrics..and (typically) I am amazed at his wealth of literacism, well-read('edness) *not a word* forgive the word here, but quite the erudite singer songwriter.... trying to avoid the effete acadaem words lately more....they only serve to , however without thought while writing automatically as I speak... - cause irritation in the reader - either by thinking I am trying to be....uhh learn'd by the cypherin' an spellin'..sounding...or am trying to one-up-man(ship).lol...NOT AT ALL... it is simply me...

I try very hard to stop, as Dad said once "the greatest genius (ain't me..lol)in the world displays his/her knowledge in the SIMPLEST of words...thereby demonstrating TRUE unveiled understanding.... I remember those words of his...and while not my motivation (veiling) or as a prof -academic hero of mine allways said "don't guild the Lilly , Steve", I try hard, but it was as I was raised, and we all know how hard those tapes are to change.....

SO - you're Q187 - you said it Ron, you deserve no credit, BUT, as before, on a well-thought-out 'Nuke' you did once before (twice out of 500-odd posts thus far doth not make a ....pattern..or de facto rule.... AND I believe you did the right thing....any dogs that render the 'list' not fun at an extended point....defeat the purposeof the game...FUN. I trust what you did only to the most mature and reasoned thinkers I HEAR in the posts - and we have maybe ...several... I would trust to it.... you are certainly one, Ron,
Good CALL....

Q187 is therby 'nuked', as NOT A RARITY as all thought, a left-over perhaps?maybe stemming from his early edges laterally into protest song in the mid 60's , I, or as jj said in another thread lately, by allegory or simile, or personification - the latter being over my head, have to look it up....lol..

BUT - I will leave one challenge up, and render an old dog relieved....

R3....gun in my ear additional hint: what word, in the title of the song BTW....in this OLD RARITY which is -ON-LINE.....has the meaning of 'a balance of terror' in weaponry...-( )-machinethe never to use by either side....hopefully, but rather fear and awe of....., the word in the title of the song...is the concept term of the DAY it is used...not 'Armegeddon', but... ( )-song. Its GLOOM-ey. Real gloomy -so said Gord. oh - and Lake Erie is in it..oddly, singing of the girl and boy in the begining of the song foregoing admonishment to NOT wade in it.. or your knees 'l dissolve..was the saw I heard too in Cleveland then...in the 60's and 70's especially..much effort to clean it up over the years...

Go ahead - look it up... but FIRST - please.. if FUN...think in terms of the last year of high-horsepower 11:1 compression ratio HO engines eg 1HP/Cubic" displacenment..by DETROIT....by ALMOST all manufacturers of Detroit muscle...one manufacturer held out in '71... but then all fell victim to lowering octane...no more "dial up 120 octane' at Sunoco (TM), pollution control on engines...a good thing... -sigh-...any how - that most prevalent YEAR is when this......still un-released song......was....considered .....for laying down tracks!!!! -and them we'll easily 'NUKE' this one, too. One MORE clue - that year - the year of one of Gord's most 'prosaic' albums, and celebrated ones at that....the year helps you - research it.

And for any Star Trek fans, please not fanatics.....lol...there was an episode by this....first half of the song name.....the key word of GLOOM-like fear of the ( )machine.......becomes the song NAME - The ( )Song.

OK

And, the old dog I am putting gently to rest. and ease her of pain, as jj extensivley researched this one by listening and studying jackets I believe....
as I am sure many of you did....but I think, evven after consulting knowledgeable friends.....could not ascertain this partial song name within a song NAME - a twist from a simultaneous thread....that I stumbled on by accident...only because of one of my favourite ethereal songs...part of its lyrics are in the name and song...of this more recent album...caught my eye...it was quite unintentionally a -partial-song within a song, in no way intended to be an overlap in concept with the tread by that theme....simply by accident during QC/QA I noticed the fact o the matter. One last hint for today....Einstein said it was not possible...to end...Any last shots...by end of day I'll put it to gentle rest....her ole' bones are not up to it anymore...

You know...one of my biggest hopes for this thread in its small start....was to just be a FUN DIVERSION..that would cause people to have more part-marathon listens...and enjoy Gord's body of work all over..in maybe a different way....and make TIME for it, which is so hard for people anymore.... work-a-day lives....weekend duties/committments, maybe 6 more hours in the office on Saturday.....but to LISTN REAL CAREFUL...and once again MARVEL at Gord's exemplary and unique method of utilizing his great forte of many such....he is, as I recall you Ron and I agree.... a very well-read man, and studied...and his lyrics do not disguise it, no matter the literate-level of protagonist in the song.

So, from inout I have received thankfully many times....the thread has indeed done that for a few at least...and if the thread flounders tomorrow as others have lamented in seemingly a 'played-out' perhaps self-limiting thread, as arguably this one could be considered.....once all songs are hit upon...that are FUN to find....not a chore....could either A: useother lyrics same songs - which has happened..., or B: flounder and....die... lol..

If it should die tomorrow, it;ll die a happy thread ! lol

Q154 - was new as of 10/09/2008 now deemed a dead-dog stumper to be....laid to rest....... -sigh- turned out to be a real stumper....... - and its a newer song !- post Warner-RepriseOriginal clue:
Q154 .... in there....
parts of a song title in this song....

lyrical patch:
Is there anybody home, is there anyone in there
Who can tell me where I am
and:
Is there anybody home, is there anyone in there
Who can tell me where I am

and:
Is there anybody home, don't you know I'm all alone
Can you tell me where I am, all I can do
Is love you till the end of all time, all I can do
Is love you til the end of all time

title: End Of All Time - nuked.

Remember R3 is still up with new clues today...lots.... and Q154 - an old dog, as said a few lines up - is nuked.

10 new songs coming...today anyone want to shoot at R3's new clues ?
