The tips of my fingers are tingly but no callouses yet. She has a child's beginner book and I have an adult beginner book. Each evening, we fight over who gets to play the guitar. I told her that we could be the next Judds, to which she replied, "what's a Judd?"

Maybe SOMEDAY I'll even be able to play a Gordon Lightfoot song like that guy on You Tube.

Thanks for listening.
AWESOME Gitch! That sounds like fun! Ironically, I recently picked up 2 old copies of Mel Bay's guitar instruction books - one children's beginner and one adult's. I'm starting with the children's one .

I'm self-taught and have played off and on since I was a teen (so let's just say...a looooongggg time hehe). I recently had my guitar repaired and the owner gave me a guitar to play while I was waiting. She told me that I was holding my hand wrong while picking, and showed me how it's supposed to be done. I told her that I've been doing it the 'wrong way' for too long and doubt that I could change this. She insisted that I could.

Well, I noticed that Gord positions his hand just like I do (anchoring his pinkie close to the bridge). I don't know if he's always played this way or if he's accomodating because of the problems he had as a result of the transient stroke (s).

Anyway, I've always struggled to play because my hands are small, short fingers too. Gord's hands and fingers are more than twice that of mine.

I have TONS of sheetmusic and songbooks and when you're ready, let me know and I can scan and email some of Gord's if you like. I actually have "For Lovin' Me" in a Peter, Paul and Mary songbook. But I have several of Gord's books and other books containing his songs.

Keep practicing and good luck !!!!

Pam
