When Larry Hovis (Carter on "Hogan's Heroes" passed in 2003,the only news I saw was on ticker-scrawl on the bottom of the CNN screen. No mention of him on any newscasts at all,that I know of.

At those award shows,people give thunderous applause to the "biggies" and polite applause to the others. Everyone whos done something positive with their life deserves a standing O'!
I know EXACTLY what you mean there B. I remember the last time that I watched the Academy Awards, and about half wat through they showed the list of notable celebrity deaths, amongst them was the late Peter Cushing. As you said, there was thunderous applause for the ones that were always out there in the public eye, but as I remember it, the applause was light to polite when his picture was shown on the screen. I am of the opinion that no matter what, they should've all been given thunderous applause regardless.
