Most people know Al Stewart as a pop icon from the 1970's with his hits Year of the Cat, and Time Passages, but his excellent work extends way beyond those pop hits. In the 1990's his CD releases of "Down in the cellar," "Famous last words," "Between the Wars," and then "Beach full of shells" in 2005, show his superb lyrical style, combining historic events with acoustic guitars. You can sing along with his songs, because you can understand the lyrics! What a concept, in today's world of music.
