Evenin' Friends,

Regarding Mr. Brown . . . shortcomings:

True, TimeTraveler, every word [as best I know]
It Grieves this Old-Man White Boy, too.
And Hurts! And makes Mad surface!

A person's *Gifts* [regardless of the field] don't excuse their actions. Neither do their actions negate their *Gifts*

I don't know what James Brown has said to his Creator - but I do believe it was said on his knees . . . and not part of the show. Likely w/ deeper grief than we can begin to comprehend.

James' was a Christian - and human - prone to wander, prone to fall. If the Lord he and I worship is, indeed, The Truth - then his Creator's response has been . . . Forgiven.

When Martin Luther King was murdered, it was James Brown's literal voice over the radio that quelled potential riots in every major city in America. I guarded Savannah streets. The riots never came.

A friend of mine, Dick Holler, wrote a song back then:

*Abraham, Martin, and John*

Dick isn't one to ponder things of the Spirit. Yet, the song came thru him. Even Dick don't know why.

It's a very strange thing to come to know the Human Being behind the Image of any Personal Hero. You *must* trade one for the other. They cannot co-exist.

Martin Luther King was God's Man for that awful Time.
It's fitting & proper to have an Official US Day set aside for him.
RFK's Dream shined brightly, too for this weary Nation.

But, do yourself a big favor - don't look too closely behind the curtain.

Keep Your Dreams as Clean as Silver . . .
