It's the same way up here in Northern Maine. When I was a kid, outside waiting for the bus, just about every morning, I heard the train go by, and that whistle echoing off in the distance. Now, about 80% of the tracks have been ripped up, and even though Fort Fairfield started a new rail service in January, there's only one major set of tracks left for it to travel on.
I really think, considering the price of gas, that those in charge will one day be sorry for ripping up the tracks.
