I live in Edmonton but was not able to attend. Still the service as shown in extended reports on the news was very moving. I saw bits of Ian Tyson, Susan A., and Tom Jackson singing (Tom sang Amazing Grace accompanying himself on a small drum), as well as comments by Paul Martin, Ralph Klein, and speakers on behalf of the bereaved families. In all the coverage that I have seen, the media has been very discreet in not sensationalizing the disturbed person who did the killing. That investigation is always covered separately.

The four officers were so young. One had been married only since Nov/04, one with his wife was expecting their second child, one was a young guy who asked long ago to be buried with some potato chips and a flashlight...so very human and so honorable to choose such a difficult and dangerous career.
