You can read the 5 "W"s about John Raitt on the LA Times Obit site. Wonderfully, lovingly written.

Here in OC there's a road, paralleling Bristol, called Raitt. All these street names gotta come from somewhere right? Some guy w/ a foot-long grey beard, a bald head, outsized Elvis sideburns, and offspring, w/ more offspring, and more offspring until the offspring named John, who fathered the offspring named Bonnie, who plays the blues like a Mother.

To see John Raitt and Bonnie sing together was worth bein' born. The have seen John sing in the debut of Carousel . . . The Soliloquy . . . what a wonderment. It's on the silver screen, but live . . . some were blessed to hear him in those days before I was an offspring in my daddy's eye.

I figure Father enjoyed the fame and Daughter does, too, and each cherished each others success. Music, I further figure, meant more to Father and to Daughter than fame. Father's Torch was passed to Daughter long ago. Now it's official. Father is dead . . . long live Daughter.

Read the Obit - it's good stuff,
Rex
