(I wonder, why is it that with so many of Gord songs I never seem to know what the song is mainly about? With Johnny Cash, I know what the song is about right away after the 1st listen. Perhaps Gord songs are more complex.)
D, the wonderful thing about all music is that it can mean something different to each of us and each person's thought would still be right. You might be surprised to find that Cash meant something different than what you concluded. It's less important what Gord meant when he wrote the song than what it means to you when you listen to it or read the lyrics ("you" being collective as opposed to singular). Like Violet, I'd be curious to hear what it meant to you.
