I've joined this thread very late. Enjoyed
reading everyone's imput, especially since I
found myself smiling or laughing quite a few
times. Now, if I can remember the owner of each comment & give you my 2C.

I settled on Quint. Tom you made a lot of
good points & Maplesyrup, you touched on most
of what I would say, but since I can't remember the specifics, I'll generalize -
Foremost, Hooper is everything but humble.
I think the word "humble" has been used the
most at this site & the ng to describe Gord,
especially by people who were lucky enough to
meet him in person after a concert.
2. Both Hooper & Quint owned boats & loved the sea. Even though Hooper was concerned
about the ocean, so was Quint and I think in
a more down-to-earth way. He was more rustic,
and also had much knowledge of the sea, mostly from raw experience. Hmmmm, sounds like someone else we all know & love.
3. Quint was in that scene with the singing,
in fact he started it all. The others joined
in with their favorite sea ditty's. So Quint
was the man first to express himself through
music! And as someone pointed out, [Maplesyrup, I think. Sorry to whomever if I'm mistaken] Quint was quite the storyteller
to. Now, who would most here like to see as
subject of VH1's STORYTELLERS series? [do they still have that?]

On the side - since Hooper was the character that most appealed to me when I saw JAWS in the theatre [we are really dating ourselves
here!]my immediate inclination was to go with
Hooper, cause I'm most inclined to go with Gord in the world of music.

I was delighted when [Tom, was it] broke out
with the lyrics of the song that Quint sang in the movie. Even though I don't know that song, I knew exactly what the reference was
& then of course when [Maryanne?] followed
it with I WANT TO GO HOME. And Char, I also
was in puzzlement of where you were coming
from ;D To be honest though, I thought maybe
I forgot about that part of the movie!

Then there's the discussion over lyrics.
NOW & THEN will do just fine by me. There has
never been a time when I don't hit the "repeat" button 3-4 times for that song
to sing with Gord at the top of my lungs.
I've been less boisterous lately since the
new tenants moved in upstairs. I think they
need to get to know me first. I most like the 1st & 3rd verse - and the music[guitar
playing, mix, etc. etc] is of Gord's & "The
Guys" finest.

Well, that's about all I have to say. Of course, I'll jump in the conversation again
if I feel the need. It's been some time since
I posted here. Good to be with you all again.
