John & D. Levesque:
John - I'll be calling you back, as I promised, regarding your unintentional insults to me over time in corfid. I see you're up to your old self-described Brit'-style humour.
I know you were only kidding, and really appreciate the call. Is there a way you can empty your e-mail ? I only mean you must be bursting in corfid PM's full, and e-mail, too. Popular and knowledgable guy that you are, you still need some gentle prodding in being polite to corfidians.
John - I am completetly absorbed by medical issues/hospitalization of Merry....tired.... and yes your e-mail is full every time I try, too.
I do really hope you're doing OK.....
D. - NOTE to D. Levesque - this is John Fowles offbeat humour. He means no insult...but i found out in a difficult way myself. He was in fact kind enough to call me and apologize; albeit in voice mail, as busy as I am with family medical crisis.
He is a rare and good man; with a wicked sense of barbed humour he means no offense with. We occassionally beat him with a wet noodle, then wind up thanking him for his truly valuable primmers.
Don't let it hurt your feelings D.; he does not mean these things harshly. It is his style of humour, and is really quite a kind man who's been through a lot. I hope this helps. He is a treasure-trove of knowledge and is a well thought of original member of corfid.
But JOHN !!!! take it easy on D. Levesque. I have yet to post a photo, and EVERYBODY has been cool about me not posting yet my GL-signed canoe paddle pic; surely you can cut -D some slack too

my old friend.
Soon John, as you requested; we will discuss the grammatical and profesional usage NOT interchangeable of Geodesic/Geodetic situation-dependent term applicability in the Geodesy end of my geodetic work with geodesic spheroidal arcs over the earth's surface. Phew say that ten times LOL
These were done originally by the Cassini family when mapping France with one of calculus' first app's ! Calculus was used and (re)-invented for the task in the 1600's, across the short pond.
These geodesics form geodetic chained quadrilaterals of mapping control networks that are mathematically robust to this day, despite GPS blindly and dangerously being used by non-professionals outside the mapping sciences .
John we'll chat about it as you requested . ....er.....espoused. It will be an eggregious erudite eminently evocative fun "primmer" in things outside your field.
The only reason I go off topic here on geodesy is that I am illustrating a case perhaps similar to mine that D. Levesque's expertise simply is different than your own.
Difference is, D. Levesque does not blabber on as I do/used to about geodetic/geodesic when you challenged me with a long, posted expose (snicker) of the terms being one and the same in use.( when asked, regarding my "handle") in his/her (sorry ??) areas of expertise.
Why do many Doctors and many Engineers (unfair generalization with some foundation in truth at times....)often think they know a lot about everything, when it is hard enough to know alot about one's own ken/area of knowledge or profession, or hobby ?
I say this respectfully because my father, being the eminent aerospace "rocket" scientist/engineer you know him by now to have been before he passed, was humble enough to recall the wise occidental saying: "he who is wise knows what he knows not". All in good fun, John.
This kind person D. Levesque does not know your style yet and, and no doubt has considerable expertise in such things as feudal Japanese history. (I looked at your profile D.

).
Look forward to seeing those pictures at your convenience and Char's......take care, D. . I see you're a long-timer corfidian. John's been up to hooligain edgy posts with some time on his hands and he can wait too; eh John ?
