I love your description of the guitar intro as evocative of the snowfall. Add the sleigh bells, add the ticking of a clock on the mantle. Add the element of being parted from a loved one, with the snow as metaphor for a barrier between them, reflected in the slight sense of doubt and insecurity about whether the lover feels the same way.

If its easier to picture Char in that winter setting it's only because SilverHeels is more in her element out on Georgian Bay, dipping and reeling. So I agree that Char has the geographic edge. But if SH had a cottage on the bay, logs on the fire, glasses of wine for two, she'd come in from the cold. She shouldn't have to remain on the streets of London.
