If I could go into great detail like those listed above I would, but I only have so much time. Gord's gold was my 1st GL album also and years later when I finally found GGII,there was simply no contest between the cover versions. On the first LP adding the 70's touch to his then decade old classics makes sense, since the *70's are not that far removed from the *60's and they are still basically the same, just a few strings added and minimal prodution work. Every cover version works very well. GGII on the other hand...the studio effects make Gord sound like he's too far from the mic-(mike),the mood of the originals is kind of lost here with the exception of the new extended version of "Pony Man". (Glad it wasn't a re-mix!) I liked the inclusion of "Make Way For The Lady" and "Baby Step Back" but overall I would only rate this 2 & 1/2 stars. The 1st one,5 stars. To date though,Gordon Lightfoot is the only artist that has ever done very good covers of his own songs. I doubt there'll be a GG III. Actually,he's doing a CD of Backstreet Boys! (Just kiddin'! Boy,am I kidding!!) Catch ya on the flipside of Sundown!
