Two artists come to my mind.
The first, some consider as America's answer to Gordon Lightfoot. That talented gentleman is none other than James Taylor. From his days recording on 'Apple Records' progressing to his "Sweet Baby James" era, onward to his most recent "October Road", Taylor's talent has captured a legion of loyal fans with his brilliant song writing.
"Now the first of December was covered with snow
And so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston
Lord, the Berkshires seemed dream-like on account of that frosting
With ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go"
Having crossed the height of land on the 'Mass Pike' between Stockbridge and Boston many a time, Those words resonate through my head on each trip and for those miles James owns my soul.
I have had the pleasure of seeing him in concert twice.
The other artist is John Stewart who is incredibly prolific songwriter from days with "The Kingston Trio" to various solo projects extending to this day.
I was introduced to his music years ago through a fellow 'Lighthead'- even prior to this Corfid group. We spent an enjoyable evening several years ago in California sharing Lightfoot tales and trading treasured music from 'our own parts of the world'. Sadly, we have lost touch with each other but I am forever grateful for his adding John Stewart to my musical library. Another artist with an army of rabidly loyal fans! Deservedly so!
