Me too. I think it is one of the most beautiful and brilliant songs ever written.

My favorite lines (in addition to the ones you quoted) are:

I "discovered" the song on the album, probably about 10 years after it was recorded. It was instantly and always a favorite song after that. In 1996 or 1997, Lightfoot brought the song back into his act and I first heard it live in May of 1998, and again in July (both times by request). He hasn't done it at all since 1998, much to my chagrin. Time to get those requests in! What an incredible song to experience live.
