Singles vs LP Tracks.
I never owned any albums myself but either listening to stations especially internet stations or even any site that might have various songs off of LP's by any artist and sometimes the tracks maybe better than the actual single releases. Maybe in part you hear those well known songs and they get boring after a while.
So how about Gord? I could care less about IYCCMM but maybe Minstrel Of The Dawn or Baby It's Alright are better song. Like Beautiful but Don Quixote is a better song. The Wreck Of The Edmond Fitzgerald I like and I won't say the other songs are better but the title track and I'd Do it Again are great. Last song might of been the closest he came to R&R. |
Re: Singles vs LP Tracks.
I don't buy individual songs in general, and I listen to most CDs from start to finish. Re: Gordon's songs, many of my top favorites are the ones I consider as "album tracks." Examples - Circle of Steel, The Soul is the Rock, A Tree Too Week to Stand, Sea of Tranquility, Ghosts of Cape Horn, Approaching Lavender, Hi-Way Songs, If Children Had Wings, Fine as Fine Can Be, Daylight Katy (was that ever as single?), I'd Do It Again, In My Fashion, Morning Glory, A Passing Ship, Ecstasy Made Easy, The Patriot's Dream, Seven Island Suite, Summertime Dream, Go My Way, ... I could go on & on! Hey, I'd love to hear these in a concert set. I wouldn't be upset if he didn't do some of the hit singles (but that won't happen in real life because he knows that he's got to do the best known songs).

""Daylight Katy" reached #16 on the adult contemporary chart and also charted in the UK at #41" Also a picture sleeve rarity (possibly Germany only??)(Note "Made in Germany") https://img.discogs.com/-dzOBIJIHGW8...-7496.jpeg.jpg Note "Made in UK" https://img.discogs.com/-utx-M_PM-mx...-3206.jpeg.jpg |
Re: Singles vs LP Tracks.
^ Thanks! That's pretty cool. We did get to hear him sing it during the 'Endless Wire" years.
Just curious, Was "Race Among the Ruins" a single as well? Love that one, too! Gail |

^ Thanks to both of you! Not that I need to buy the singles, but it is interesting to find out which songs were actually released as singles (& their "B" sides).

Cool to have that definitive list, Char! BTW, John, I can read Spanish (I was a foreign language education major in college, with a concentration in French & Spanish). Gail |
