MEMPHIS TN-Mar.7-2016-GRACELAND
RICK: We have a couple of days down between Flagstaff, Arizona and Fort Myers, Florida on this tour segment, so we made a pit stop in Memphis, Tennessee, and since Elvis recorded a couple of Gord`s songs, we decided it was high time we went to his home, the famous Graceland, so named by the original builder.

When myself and my wife visited Graceland some years ago, we crossed the road to go onboard Elvis's Boeing aircraft. As we were waiting Elvis's version of
Early Morning Rain was being played. Anyone know if this is still happening? |

RICK: Parting shots from Graceland >>> After our brief but comprehensive tour, Gord stopped back on the front lawn for a couple of quickie interviews: the first one for Sirius XM's "Elvis" channel. I said I wished Elvis had done "Same Old Loverman". Finally, a video interview for Graceland's website and archives.
Back on the plane and off to Florida to continue our tour! http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/u...89350067_n.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/u...33566883_n.jpg http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/u...76808425_n.jpg |

Proceeding thru the tour, we were all impressed by the sheer number of awards and memorabilia, which speak to Elvis' overwhelming volume and body of work and accomplishments in music and film, and all over a very short career. Notice the "50 Million Singles" award (above Gord's head.)

This "love Me Tender" display at Graceland really took me back and stirred some memories. My Mom, who played the piano really well and started me on the piano, was still alive. After a few years of classical training, I was getting interested in pop music. The first piece of sheet music that I bought was "Love Me Tender", which I learned and played on the piano, later getting a guitar and relearning it on that old guitar. Classical training and reading has always served me well. Thanks for this pic, Kim!

Elvis'version of "For Lovin' Me" encouraged me to seek out Gord's music. All the way back in 1989! I Was still a teenager lol
