I can't beieve they left out Gord in this list! IMHO it's their biggest mistake since they blew their story about fraterenity rapes at UVa!

when i read the title of this post, i thought Gordon should be number 1, top 10 at the very least. appalling that he isn't here. funny, Dylan loves lightfoot and his music, and he makes number 1....I bet he thinks gordon should be on the list.

Dylan once said in an interview, "when i hear a gordon lightfoot song, i wish it will last forever". it was around 2001 i think

How many Bjork songs can you sing or that come to mind? And Taylor Swift? Plleaaze. But of course it's not surprising.

Most of the Rolling Stone polls I ever read were way off, Nothing new.

And yet RS had a top 20 singer-songwriter list a few years back and Gord was there. Somebody posted this to Facebook the other day and when I noted him missing I got at least a dozen folks agreeing. I think the lists vary by who they poll and which way the wind blows lol.

It's a travesty that he's NOT included in this list of 100, but coming from Rolling Stone, I'm not surprised. They seem to have been dismissive of him for years!

I think it maybe a personal thing which is unfortunate for a magazine that practically jumps out at your face on newsstands across the country.

I recall many years ago, in the sixties I believe, but I am unable to find anything further out there related to it online that in one article Rolling Stone magazine once referred to Gord as "a cowboy in drag" and he took offense to it. I don't have any follow information but you're right paskatefan they have been dismissive and whatever the inner workings are in the backrooms of the magazine world this is what we the readers read between the lines.

I'll sign off as one less purchaser of Rolling Stone magazine.

I don't think we should be too disappointed that Gord didn't make this top 100. Such lists are extremely subjective and tend to favour recent hitmakers over those that fewer judges remember. I was surprised to see as many as 3 of my favourites (Van Morrison, Jackson Browne and James Taylor) in this list. Hundreds of others (and I would include Gordon Lightfoot, Cat Stevens, Don McLean and Ian Anderson) could be argued for.
