K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
I remember this commercial very well, and then going to buy the record
those K-TEL records were good bang for your buck, but they seemed to scratch easy… or maybe it's because I was always moving the needle around.. repeat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFGrmMWYcPg |

Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
Actually I believe that there was also an even better and somewhat cheaper not to say far more comprehensive K-Tel offering that allegedly includes "Gord singing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"
plus as an unwelcome bonus one of my personal most unfavourite dittys about a number of bloody trombones see caption from http://http://midnightgravy.com/2013...-ever-written/ In this hilarious SCTV parody, Dave Thomas is the motormouth announcer hawking a Gordon Lightfoot collection, Gord Lightfoot Sings Every Song Ever Written. Rick Moranis is the Voice of Lightfoot us |
Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
i dont know whether i should ashamed or proud, but i've got that double LP!. where else can you shove that many tracks on one side of an album?!

Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
That was GREAT! I have never seen that. Was that the album Gord has mentioned buying up and destroying? Actually I think an interviewer asked him about destroying some mass produced greatest hits album (gzowski?) and Gord jokingly denied it.

Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
hey Tony… i think it was when UA released a Hits package in 1974... Gord wanted to update his sound from that era and make it more consistent with the other half of GG selections from the early Warner/Reprise era … I don't have the Peter:In Conversation handy to revisit
btw, still looking forward to any video of your recent performance…I also found out there is one of those restaurants out this way …I hope you play it! cheers |
Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
Lightfoot told Gzowski that it was UA's compilation set that he destroyed because he had a new album out at the time.. (altho there was some chatter that it was the 1971 AME label release of "Early Lightfoot" - An EBAY auction in 2003 - "Lightfoot tried to block the release of the LP and was unsuccessful so instead he bought as many copies as he could and destroyed them - as legend has it, with an axe in his backyard!"
and from another auction said: "Mega-rare LP featuring his early recordings for Art Snider's, Toronto-based Chateau label. This is the infamous release of his 1962-63, pre-United Artists recordings. Ame Records was another short lived Snider label. Lightfoot was not pleased when this LP was released, and most copies were pulled back and later destroyed" ) Years ago Jenney had him sign a copy of Early Lightfoot and he told her he had bought most of them and had destroyed them himself. |
Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
Kind of silly on his part.

Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
JJ,
You must have me confused with a guitar playing Tony. I'm a Tony. I do own a guitar but I really don't know how to play it. |
Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
TC, you are so right! … I know TG lives in Canada and thought "how could he miss those K-Tel commercials! , lol"
it seems that they weren't just running and sold in Canada though … some folks outside of the country seemed to be familiar with these too …. |
Re: K-tel fantastic lightfoot 2 lp
TC, TG, we're getting our wires crossed LOL
