Searching for Sugarman

My dear friends.

Marian from the Mountains (my wife) loves to watch movies and I really prefer to be in a separate room playing Gordon Lightfoot tunes on my guitar.

She does though in her own special way know how to gain a little company and all it takes is for her to discover a movie show with some substance to it and invite me to watch it with her.

Believe me "Searching for Sugarman" is a movie that I would highly recommend for anyone who has delved in any way into the minefield of the music industry and discovered just how this business works.

This show is loaded with just about all one would need to ask that famous question: "how can something like this really happen?"

Sorry I can't remember just how to put something up here to introduce the show but a Google search will help.

RJ.

That's what I thought too when I saw the film maker discussing it on a show a few months back. Truth is stranger than fiction. I believe it won an Academy Award too.

Thanks for the reminder, will have to search this out.

Searching for Sugarman is one of my favorite movies. I knew nothing of the story, and I'd advice people not to Google it if they think they might want to see it. When I was in Toronto, I went on Saturday to the matinee after it came highly recommended by two dear friends. They built it up so much I had to go see it the next day, and I'm glad I did.
It did win the Oscar for best documentary. Just a wonderful movie, and the fact it's a true story makes it even more amazing.
