People Magazine
Did anyone notice the ad in People Magazine this week with all the pictures of the inductees to the Songwriters Hall of Fame? It's the issue with Snookie on the cover, page 37. No new pictures, but still nice to see Gordon in there.
Off for a wild weekend with Char in the big city! We might even stay up till midnight!!! |
Re: People Magazine
well hell's bells Sparky, midnight it is!
lol see ya at 5 tomorrow - look out NY - the Canadians are comin'! |
Re: People Magazine
goodness gracious! I stopped getting people magazine because they keep putting people like "snookie" on the cover. Now I am going to actually have to go to a store and buy that issue of people magazine in front of people who might know me! yikes! couldn't Gordon have been put into an issue that didn't include that dimwit?
p.s. I still have an early 80's issue of people with a much more pleasant cover. somewhere inside is a positive review of a new Gordon Lightfoot album... I wonder if I even know where that magazine is...(probably not!) another ps. have a fun trip. i envy you. |

Thelma and Louise take Manhattan! lol it's always great to hear anecdotes following your rendezvous...it's essentially a mini Waterbuffalo convention, but you guys wear moose antlers instead of horns:) |
Re: People Magazine
I used to buy People every week...it was an embarrassing little addiction, but I thought of it as a relatively harmless guilty pleasure. My son Matt finally got me to kick the habit, although I am still allowed to look over a copy if I am in a waiting room where they are lying around. I may just have to schedule an appointment soon :)

Re: People Magazine
I'll be not-so-patiently-waiting to hear if Gord puts any of those tunes he's pulling "out of the vault" into the rotation in NY.
Glad Thelma & Louise will be in NY and not in Arizona......and not in a convertible....... :) Melissa |
Re: People Magazine
He should let his fans pick which ones should go back into the vault
I hope the gems survive the cut. Helplessly hoping:) |

We sat with Wayne Francis again so expect the full set list as he took it shortly Cryptic clues 1.his face when admitting to wearing Polka Dot Inderwear was priceless but he had to 2.press on to 3.empty his glass before 4. racing around to 5. cool his shoulder |
Re: People Magazine
i asked Mr Bing to try to find this latest People article he drew a blank but did find an archived article
August 05, 1974 Vol. 2 No. 6 A Heavy New Star Named Lightfoot at:- http://www.people.com/people/archive...064338,00.html |

Wow, sitting with Wayne! He was gonna ask Gord or Rick if Les Pouliot was still alive. Nice cryptic, char. So no Go Go Girl yet. Funny that he said he was not big on the song but is bringing it back as one of the only true oldies. He expressed that after Keelor covered it. Maybe Gord is more open ears these days. Bravo. Does Wayne bring along Courtney? Have fun, gals:) |
Re: People Magazine
I confuse Fading Away (the poppy keyboard riff) with I'd Rather Press On (nice acoustic guitar solo).
Next tour request: Only Love Would Know |

Lol. I've been waiting years for you to set me up like that, heh ...the polka dot undies face/look down is humourously similar to stubbed my toes look. I remember being taken back twice when first hearing the WFY album. |
Re: People Magazine
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
5 vault treasures! I love it. Counting the days 'til the Kentucky shows. I'll be there with bells on (but I won't ring them). :) Melissa |

instead I will post the following update Apparently revisiting those old rotational items was entirely Gord's idea four of those five got another workout at Tarrytown Village NY last night I had a feeling that at least one of the five was a song not previously performed live on stage or television so I have again refound Jones the Younger's list at:- http://www.corfid.com/vbb/showpost.p...5&postcount=22 "soooo, there we have it...the list of standard recording that have not been played live, to the best our collective knowledge?: refresher the last published list was in April 2009 when it comprised these 39 songs:- Slide on Over The Soul is The Rock Brave Mountaineers Ordinary Man A Passing Ship Ecstasy Made Easy You Just Gotta Be Sometimes I Don't Mind End Of All Time Flyin' Blind No Mistake About It Sometimes I Wish Cobwebs Dust (despite a false listing on the artwork of the 1976 Montreux Festival bootleg!!) Poor Little Allison Changes Oh, Linda Peaceful Waters Pride of Man Rich Man's Spiritual The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face Farewell to Annabel Lazy Mornin' Mother of a Miner's Child Without You She's Not The Same Cabaret Love & Maple Syrup Nous Vivons Ensemble Redwood Hill Same Old Loverman Talking in Your Sleep Is There Anyone Home Somewhere USA Crossroads Go Go Round Home from The Forest If You Got It I'll Be Alright I'd Rather Press On Four sings (bout 10%) may now be removed Two were memorably featured in that fantastic 1971/1972 BBC concert as reaired in 2011 Nous Vivons Ensemble and Talking In Your Sleep And of course in honour of The Hawk Home From The Forest has recently had a good run Now I'd Rather Press On has now been performed twice Hopefully Go Go Round will get a rightful reinvigorating soon |
Re: People Magazine
Yesterday I had to take my car in because of a strange noise it was making. In the waiting room were several recent issues of People magazine, but sadly, not the one from Sept 17. So I am now completely up to speed with Prince Harry, Honey Boo Boo, and what Macaulay Culkin is doing these days, but I still haven't seen the Songwriters HOF announcement.
A least they were able to fix the problem with my car. |

And they fixed my car even though the noise that prompted me to take the car in had stopped by the time I got there :) |
