Bernie Fiedler

This most amazing man and dedicated friend of Gordon Lightfoot and his music has been around since the Riverboat days.

Other than seeing his name coming up on the promotion flyers etc. for Gordon Lightfoot concerts he seldom gets much recognition, but the true fans of Gordon Lightfoot know well that he turns the wheels and in a most experienced way.

Char will attest to that one for sure.

Especially for the Massey hall shows.

It's him that organizes those concerts and a host of others as well.

He was there at Hugh's Room back in January and from my observation he was a guy still at work, just making sure that Gord was comfortable all around and being there waiting for him by the door at the end of the evening.

A great guy he his.

Re: Bernie Fiedler

He's always been very kind to me over the years and I can only speak from my own personal acquaintance with Bernie.
I'll never forget what he said, and how he said it back in 2001 when I commented to him how generous it was of Lightfoot to take time from his busy schedule on a concert day to meet with a large group of us before a Massey concert. He smiled and said "he's a sweetheart of a man, a real sweetheart." In his voice I sensed a genuine care and love for his long time friend. It touched me quite deeply and I'm glad I had that moment with him. For over 40 years they have been business associates and friends through all that their personal lives and professional lives has brought them. It's not all been a bed of roses I'm sure.
Seeing them walk into Hugh's Room with Bernie carrying Gordon's guitar and going upstairs with him to make sure all was okay is testament to their association. I don't imagine Gordon lets just anyone walk around with his guitar..!
