Gordon Lightfoot Forums - Gordon's On Sporcle!

If anyone out there is interested in wasting huge blocks of time taking internet quizzes, have I got a website for you.

sporcle.com has just about every brain bender imaginable for one to measure their ability to recall facts that are guaranteed to net them zero financial gain.

Anyway, "our guy" is represented in a quiz that requires one to fill in the missing lyrics of TWOTEF. To access this quiz, go to sporcle.com and in the blank where it says "search for a game" in the upper right hand corner, type in "Gordon Lightfoot" and press "go". On the page that appears, look for "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" in the center column below the burgundy bar that says "User Created Quizzes". Click on it and the quiz will appear. Press the "start" button and the clock should begin ticking, as all quizzes are timed.

One word of caution -- since this is an "educational" website:rolleyes:, spelling matters. Therefore, if one cannot correctly spell "Gitchigumi", the website will not consider anything close as being the correct answer.

I was hoping they had one that requires the user to fill in the blanks for every song, in order, for each of his studio albums like they do for the doors or The Beatles (you cannot imagine how hard this is when you are being timed), but no luck. I did look into creating one myself but after reading some of the comments of people attempting to do so, decided my lack of computer skills were an issue so this is it (although Gordon is referenced briefly in a few other quizzes, i.e. famous Gordons, 70's music, etc).

I've no doubt most Corfidians will ace this one -- the challenge is whether or not it can be done in 9 minutes, as it took him over six minutes to sing it!
