I love the act but it was my son, Liam who recorded it and put it on You Tube; at my request of course because I wouldn't know the first thing on how to approach such a daunting task.
I'm still hung up on the rotary phone thing.

But the "Magic Minstrel Show." Yes, I checked out the lyrics and they are of course very beautiful as one would expect from the pen of the master, and the chords don't seem to present any problem but I have yet to hear the song.
Is there some way you can send it to me?

The guitar lick was taught to me by Paul Bartlett, a good friend and student of the late Red Shea, Gord's former lead guitar player.

I merely dressed it up a tad by playing the song in the "drop D mode" by using a capo to cover the low "E" string on the fifth fret and a second capo (Shubb) to cover the "A, D, G, B and high E" strings on the seventh fret and playing it in the "D" position.

It seems to find it's own blend that particular way.

To me it's one of Gordon's most powerful pieces of work and I love the song dearly and never get tired playing it. The audience response is most positive.

I had of course heard about these push button phones back in the UK but at that time the British Post Office (Royal Mail) had a complete and unreasonable monopoly on the supply of telephone equipment including the installation and you were forbidden under the threat of fines or deportation or worse

to modify or extend their wiring or heaven forbid connect a different phone (the excuse being that it might damage their precious system!). indeed it was not until well after I had returned to England in late 1969 that sense prevailed and one could legally purchase and install modern phones, wiring and sockets but (initially at least) not until the PO engineers had tested and approved any alternative modern phone to replace the prewar design which was still the standard Post Office issue

and I surmised that basically punters would wish to have the complete concert recording that contained this rare live rendition, and I fully intended creating a zip file to upload to rapidshare. But unfortunately the original compiler of both the streaming all in one low quality wmv file sugarmegs recording at

(which anybody can find if they take the trouble)
and a high quality FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) file set torrent
whilst he must be applauded for making this gem of a bootleg available he had done a very poor job trancribing from the original recording because three tracks were double songs and the magnificent Seven Island Suite recording was in two pieces one of which i at a lower ound level bevause it appears to be monaural. I confess that I have yet to sort this out to my satisfaction nor have I uploaded the whole concert but I will now upload a high quality mp3 of the Magic Minstrel Show rendition and pass the link to Ron

This would be me had I kept up the lifestyle I was living in the sixties. But I would definitely have to have a capo and put it on the fifth fret and play RDP in the key of "G."

Actually these folks are quite harmless and they can be also be entertaining.

Some just fall through the cracks.

As Gord says in "Face of A Thousand People:"

"There are those less fortunate than I."

As regards to Jon; the last time I saw him he was drinking beer out of a stein almost his own size. That guy likes to party.

Oh yes, another highlightheaded moment came with this one.

It's Worth Believin', believe me.

I called it the "Bitter Green Butterfly" as it arrived as I was introducing Gord's "Bitter Green," another fav of mine.

Of course it completely upstaged me, and it lingered on ..... (sorry, got carried away a bit there) my hand and the last thing I would ever do would be to shoo away a beautiful butterfly in all it's radient glory and vigor.

It was a very special day; a day to remember.

There just might be song there somewhere down the road.
