Could I be the only one?

I am often shamed to admit that Gordon Lightfoot is one of the only musicians that I listen to. This would not be anomolous for this forum, except for the fact that I am 16 years old. Is there anyone else out there who is "too young" for this kind of music? I sure prefer it to anything else, but don't admit it to ANYBODY.

Gordon Lightfoot -" Mister Rock of Ages" - go to one of his concerts and you'll see the very young to those of us who have spent a good part of Gord's 72 years aging along side him. Good music stands the test of time and appeals to young and young at heart.
...and welcome to the forum Bigsteelrail!

I guess, but I don't think I phrased the question properly. I guess it depends on the time frame, based on your age, and the "peer pressure" at that time. For example, when I was 16, the Beatles were the rage. Did I buy any of their albums ? Nope. I was listening to Glen Campbell, and wouldn't dare tell anyone. It wouldn't have been 'cool'.

Apparently I did. Maybe it was just a small Arizona town 'thing'. I mentioned it to an acquaintance many years later, and his response was "That's weird". I'm glad I stayed silent.

I was in school... grade 8, and a major Glen Campbell fan before discovering Lightfoot, & I would tell it to anyone that wanted to hear it.

I just posted in another topic about John Hartford. What a talent and a heck of a nice guy. As a result of Gentle on my Mind he was able form a young age to do what he wanted in life without worrying about money. So he toured and was a river pilot. Gotta love that.

Mt high school sweetie was into Ed Ames... I liked old Sinatra as a teenager even as I was captive to the Beatles and such. I started playing guitar because of teh Kingston Trio.
