Geeze James - that seems so long ago. I thought I was there all alone with no other "net people' and then there you were!
lol

It's so wonderful that the popularity of the shows has continued to be so strong. For professional artists to come together and individually celebrate the music of Lightfoot in their own unique way with such respect and love touches me deeply every year. The shows have introduced me and many others to so dozens of new artists who have successful careers of their own and who I may have never heard of! I will be forever thankful to have their music in my life.

The greatest thing of all for the shows, performers and producers and which makes them stand out above all other "tribute" performers/bands from long ago and present day, is that they have been endorsed, acknowledged and attended by Lightfoot himself. The fact that he got up and sang this past January is testament to how he feels about these yearly celebrations.

THAT makes these shows unique and one of a kind for sure.

Char I just went and listened to some more, I'd forgotten how interesting Cadence was! For anyone that listens to them doing CRT (one of the most unique interpretations I've ever heard!), right before they started the said "guess which song we're going to do?" and rolled out some extremely long sheet music!
I'm so happy that the CBC recorded this, my memory isn't what it used to be, and this is a nice reminder.

hi, JR...btw, you look great as does the whole gang in that pic, that's a real Trio keeper...there needs to be a happy face icon with kisses coming from both sides, lol :)

so i missed taping the CBC broadcast last night (I forgot it was Mar31, no April foolin, either, agh)...I have not listened to all tracks yet but nice quality...I wish those were mp3s and not wmv files (me second least fave next to ra files!)...i downloaded the windows media player for Mac and it works hit and miss...whereas they dont play at all on my XP laptop

i will listen to Cadence for sure...it's a rainy day which is my fave type for music listening/playin, well, other than during snow storms

btw, I really like the phrase 'A Celebration' of Lightfoot...I always associated those legends 'Tribute' acts with deceased artists maybe cos the slew of tribute acts i first caught were actually for artists who had passed on (Orbison, Holly, etc) ...i notice these days some of the acts paying tribute to artists who are still out there, are actually more popular (and may or may not sound better) than the actual act itself...is there a Dylan 'cover' act out there?

Hey Sparky - dontcha wish they'd been recording video/audio since day 1 of the CELEBRATION shows?
I tried to convince Jory, I tried!
lol

ahhh, i got that one to play just now, very clear recording, hard to believe he's white man...he sure was the guy who blew the lid off the place that first year...i recommend anyone who hasn't checked out the audio yet to perhaps start with this one (ok, following Gord's SFAWN perhaps)

You're right about Rick blowing the roof off the place that first year. It was a helluva surprise to everyone and the audience reaction was huge. He's an amazingly talented man.
