HAPPY VICTORIA's DAY

Wishing all our Canadian friends a great holiday today :)

Thanks Pam
Yes, It’s the Victoria Day holiday, also known as the ‘May 24th holiday’ for Queen Victoria’s birth date and not a ‘two-four’ case of beer as many partiers believe. The old gal was born in 1918 at Kensington palace in London but unknown to most, her first language was German. Vicky married at 21 and reigned for 63 year - longer than any other monarch. She also managed to survive 8 assassination attempts! In spite of smoking cigarettes to drive away flies, she bore nine children who in turn gave her 40 grandchildren. Having survived all this is reason enough to celebrate her life in 'the colonies'.
But up here north of the border it’s an excuse to open up the cottages and hoist a few from that two-four pack while lighting off fireworks and listening to some Lightfoot.

I think we're about the last of the colonials to actually celebrate Victoria..they don't even do it in England!
lol
At least one day of the weekend without rain is better than nothing but it's cold and windy! Wish I had a 2-4..
lol

I hate to bust your bubble, but Queen Victoria was born in 1818, not 1918, as she had died in 1901.

Re: HAPPY VICTORIA's DAY

Thank You for catching my typo. Born in 1918 and she might be with us still!
