MasseyHall 2008-Thanks!-Brian
Hard to believe that another Massey get together has come and gone and everyone is back at or heading back to everyday life all over the place. I thought this year’s version was wonderful. And I’d like to pass on a few thank you’s:
Thanks to the incredibly talented musicians for putting together the jam sessions. Thanks to Ron for his connections at McVeigh’s. It was a fantastic venue for the jam sessions and the after concert shows. The house band really seemed to be happy to have the Lightheads there, and how great that they worked some Lightfoot tunes into their act. Thanks to all who captured the moments, both around the city and at McVeigh’s. Thanks to the good Lord for keeping Gord and the band “still standing” as Gord put it. Last, but certainly not least thanks to Char for being the “glue” – contributing a hundred little things to make the whole experience so enjoyable. You do it so well that it’s easy to take it for granted. It may be a labour of love, but I know that many others share my appreciation for all your efforts. Brian |
Re: Thanks!
Brian, glad you had a great time. You looked like you were enjoying yourself at dinner, while I was here in Colorado lamenting fact that I didn't go.
Nice of you to think of Char, she does do wonders there. I was lucky enough to have Lori call me so I could listen to Triangle on night two, was able to talk to Anne for a min. also. Sure missed all of you. Deb |
Re: Thanks!
Brian, I'll second your thanks to Char ! What a great job, eh ? And I'd also like to thank you for bringing young Mr. O'Flynn aka 'Eamon' to our table for dinner. It made it easier for my daughter having someone closer to her age to chat with. As a matter of fact we all enjoyed his company as well as your own. It was nice to see you again.

Re: Thanks!
The pleasure was ours, Bill. Eamon is a remarkable young man. He's musical tastes amaze me - seeing Lightfoot at Massey was a really big deal for him. I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but while he was waiting to meet up with me he went CD shopping and bought Rick Danko! The kid is 23 years old!!

Re: Thanks!
Your kind words are appreciated Brian, and yes Char is the glue that holds it all together. She ties in all the loose ends that I keep leaving out, but she is a wonderful person and great to work with. As the words go in the song the pub band sang " Fine Girl Y'are!" Ron J.

Re: Thanks!
Thanks for the kind and very generous compliments! I wish we all had more time together to sit and chat..those darned concerts kept getting in the way.
I'm sorry I never had more than a moment with Brian, Eamon or Bill, as well as several other folks. The pub jams were great but didn't leave a lot of 'quiet' time for conversation but the singing and drinking were awesome!!! lol Those who were absent this year will hopefully be making arrangements for November 2009.. |
