THE BATHTUB TEST

While visiting a mental asylum, I asked the Director what defined whether or not a
patient should be institutionalized.

Director: 'Well, we do a little test. We fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him/her to empty the bathtub.'

Me: 'Oh, I see. A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than a spoon or cup.'

Director: 'No, a normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?'

I have to tell you, over the years, I've been through my share of other versions of the"bathtub test". But then, in those days it was alsoknown as a practical joke and a really mean spirited one at that. That was the sort of thing that virtually robbed me of a sense of humour.

Well, I flunked the test.... that just confirms what some of us have already known... that I'm ready for an institution ;) .
