Judy Collins concert

Maybe this should be under other discussions but I wanted to share that I went to a Judy Collins concert last night at SIUE. It was wonderful. I was blown away. Her voice was better than ever...strong and true. She sang all my favorites but "Send in the Clowns". Oh well. Anyway, just wanted to share that.

Thank's for sharing Gloria. Did she do any of Gord's old song. Probably not for you would have mention it. Does she still uses her 12 string Martin ? She is great. :)

I have to thank Judy (well, maybe not personally) for turning me on to Gord. It was her cover of "Early Morning Rain" that really piqued my interest about this Lightfoot fella.

No, she didn't sing any of Gord's songs, she did have a guitar, I think a 12 string...but I'm so unmusical I'm not sure. I did have a good seat, 8th row, aisle seat. She sang some Beatle songs because her new album is a tribute to Lennon-McCartney. Just a great evening. SIUE was the home of the Mississippi River Festival from 1969 to 1980 and Judy played the MRF 5 times. She came back to help SIUE celebrate their 50th year.

Judy Collins has a phenomenal voice! I've aways loved listening to her. I just have to make it to one of her performances! Glad you were able to go Gloria and it's nice to hear about Judy.

In the early 90's while I was a student at Uconn, I lived next door to the General Store in Mansfield Ctr. CT. The owner, Ms. Rob would tell me that years before, Judy used to drop in there with her guitar and sing for a little while. I think Ms. Rob said that Judy's son was going to Uconn at the time and she had lived in the area then (the late 70's? early 80's?).

I used to go in that store a couple of times a week during the two years that I lived next door and....Ms. Rob told me the story about Judy EVERY time I was in there...as if she was telling it to me for the 1st time hehe!

Hey GJA,I've liked Judy Collins' singing since I first heard "Both Sides Now" nearly 30 years ago on oldies radio. I have about 4 of her albums and...great news here, she's coming here to Phoenix on Nov. 15th at the Orpheum where I saw Gordon back in January! :)

I am "so-o-o" going to that show! ;)

Well, you will love her in concert. She told some great stories. Let me know if she tells the one about the "weird little guy singing in the corner who she just "knew" would never go anywhere with his music!!
