What key was Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" recorded in? A? Bb? B? Unfortunately, I'm not very good at picking out keys from records. This is a harder song to sing than I thought it would be! Thanks.

Thanks, Molly and Cathy. I believe it is in A, capo-ed at the second fret, and so the true key is B. Several websites give the chords in A, but I finally found a credible site that confirms a capo on 2.
I kept playing it in A, but the note on the word "strong" was so low--I kept thinking there is no way Neil sings that note on the record. In B, the low note is an F# (rather than an E), which is much easier for me to sing! |
I don't know what key it's in but I do know that Neil and I are one of the few people who can sing that word "strong" as deep in bass as he does, without going off key! :D
"Oh,but then I know that it's growin' strong!" He was may favorite male singer until I found out more about Gordon Lightfoot. :) |
